From Azkoitia we received the first self-edited album by Mikel Iraeta, a young and talented pianist with happy electronic querencias, who was part of bands such as Ro and Zeizel, debuted with “Isha EP” in 2019 and who, for a few years, resides in Barcelona. This “Oinatzak” contains eight themes in which Iraeta enjoys and likes with the synergy of classic and avant-garde sounds, starting with the sound of the black and white keys. The electronic dressing – based on very careful minimalist percussive bases – and melodies – sweet and synthesized – that border on the environmental, elevate it to a different and therefore special category. This is how on topics such as the escapists “Ez Dakigu Zer Ikusi Dugun” and “Erro Askeak” or the very cinematic “Alderantziz” combines, with taste and sapience, the sensitive sound of the piano with atmospheric textures, billed with the flow of his hands on machines. In other cuts, in case of “Oinatzak” his piano assumes all the prominence in a taciturn tone, quasi marengo. As in “Joan Naiz” it is the people who camp at their wide in a beautiful passage – or is it landscape? – that seems to have been composed to be enjoyed in the intimacy of a great indoor sunset. In short, this “Onaitzak” represents a new step in the evolution of an interesting artist in which disparate virtues converge that, in synergy, usually give good results, as in sight – and, above all, listen – is. Get something that is up to the few, make your mark with your music, what more can you ask for?
Brilliant Spanish multi instrumentalist, with post rock, neoclassical, electronic and ambient style, his melodies are smooth, very well structured and refined, his last work is magnificent. The atmosphere takes us on a pleasant journey full of details and impressive strumming in perfect harmony and cadence. Keeping this perfectionism and creativity, success is guaranteed, congratulations Mikel for the great work, big hug Aryon Maiden. I hope you enjoy this compilation.
